Bishop as Executors of the last will and testament of Benjamin Gildersleeve lat of the Town of Brookhaven, in the County of Suffolk and State of New York deceased parties of the first part and Jermiah Glover, of the same place party of the second part Witnesseth—That the said parties of the first part by virtue of the power and authority to them given in and by the said last and (sic) Will and Testament and for and in Consideration of the sum of One thousand five hundred and Twenty five dollars lawful money of the United States of America to them in hand paid while before the Ensealing and delivery of these present by the party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said party of the second part his heirs executors and administrators further release and discharge from the same by these presents hath granted bargain sold aliened released conveyed and confirmed and by these present do grant bargain sell alien release convey and confirm unto the said party and his heirs and assigns forever — All that certain track or parcel of land situated in the Town of Brookhavenin the County of Suffolk and State of New York and bounded as follows—On the west by the Town or Middle Island Road [Old Town road], on the North by the South side of the Great Division lot to the County Road [now known as Montauk highway], then generally Southerly by and with the County Road to the land of Pierre Badetty, then running Westerly and then Southerly and then Easterly by and with the said Badetty's land to the said County Road and then South Westerly by and with the said County Road to the place of beginning—Containing by Estimation Six acres mor or less. This handwritten deed was one of the more difficult to transcribe because of poor penmanship and inserted text. "Boilerplate" material at the end of the document, not essential to understand the property being conveyed, has not been transcribed.. [S58] 1873 Beers Map. The 1873 Beers map now shows the former Gildersleeve property as belonging to Captain J. Glover. A Mrs. Gildersleeve is now shown living on the southeast corner of Yaphank avenue and South Country road (modern Montauk highway). The identity of this Mrs. Gildersleeve has not been determined.
